This tour is specifically designed for the adventure riders who enjoy VAST open spaces and BIG BLUE SKIES. This area has its own beauty which has magnificent sunsets and sunrises. This is semi desert and the distances covered over this terrain are long, but when you reach the destination, it makes it worthwhile. This is not everyone’s cup of tea but for those that love the sheer joy of riding and experiencing semi desert terrain it is a must. We visit special places including the Augrabies falls on the mighty Orange river, Nieu Bethesda (the famous Owl house) and Valley of Desolation to name a few. The gravel roads covering this area are excellent and for those that do not mind dust, this is a must-do ride. The cold beer in the evening goes down well.
Water is carried on this trip, as is a fold up umbrella as there are areas with no shade.
DURATION: 8 days
BEST TIME: This can be ridden all year round, but the Summer months December -February are ridiculously hot.
TECH: This is a 50/50 on / off road ride and is pillion friendly.

Sutherland is 1500m above sea level and is renowned for star gazing in the winters. It can be visited all year around but ironically the best time to visit this well-known little town is in winter. January is the wettest months and the roads getting there can be a handful in the wet.
This tour will take you through the beautiful Tankwa Karoo on awesome gravel roads and up some spectacular gravel road mountain passes and that are seriously stunning. We stay in little cozy hotels as winters are very cold. The next day we head down more spectacular gravel road mountain passes into the Tankwa area again, visiting well known watering holes before spending a night in the beautiful Cedarberg. The next morning, we head back to Cape town via beautiful mountain passes.
This tour will take you through the most amazing scenery and you will experience big blue-sky country. This is a gravel lover’s dream ride, and you understand the meaning of space.
If you choose to ride this tour in the winter months bring warm cloths.
